GDSN Connect’s menu sandbox functionality allows users to build and pre-cost weekly menus using items and recipes easily and quickly from their local items and try new items from the larger N2F Database prior to procuring them and for use in Administrative Reviews. Scalable recipes can be built using the ingredients in the item database, making it easy to transfer into recipes. Sandbox decisions regarding new items and recipes can be stored in the local GDSN Connect database and later transferred to BOH software.

When substantial updates are needed to prepare for an Administrative Review’s “week of review,” GDSN Connect may be the fastest route as an alternative to BOH software.  Users can create the menu in the sandbox with the latest information (if it was not already created) and then download a set of reports containing the menu compliance report and all recipe and item reports used on that menu. These can be printed and placed into a binder to hand a professional set of documents to the reviewer or uploaded into the appropriate system.
